There is a study reported by the medical journal The Lancet about the increase in levels of anxiety and depression during the pandemic.  The first sentence in the report got me thinking.  Mental disorders are among the leading causes of the global health-related burden I have to look up the meaning of burden because I've never thought of my anxiety as a burden. A thorn, a pain in the ass, or at best, this thing that I have but not a burden. It has two meanings. a load, typically a heavy one. Or the main theme or gist of a speech, book, or argument.   The Lancet is a UK publication and I'm an American bringing other meaning to the words used to describe mental health issues.   At first, I took it as the world was burdened with people who have a mental health condition.
