Songmess

On today’s very special episode of Songmess we are joined by Costa Rican producer Carla Alfaro, also known as Blau Grisenc. The musician and architect joins us for a closer look at the local ambient scene as well as numerous artistic collectives leading the charge for greater visibility of women. From the beginning of our conversation it became apparent women would be the focal point of this episode, highlighting the wealth of local talent often relegated to the sidelines by patriarchal habits. This episode will largely focus on Alfaro’s work, as well as spaces and organizations promoting diverse perspectives and lineups, including the Viajo Sola collective, the Feminoise music festival in Argentina and a compilation titled Juegos Ambiguos specifically comprised of Costa Rican women producers. This is both a necessary and lighthearted episode as Alfaro is delightful and wickedly funny, and as usual, the music will have you bopping, swaying and thinking throughout.
