It works by using tag matching to pair up 2 strangers with similar interests so that they can talk with each other. It also matches people based on a score which is determined by the votes of their previous chat partners, and is effectively like a “personality rating”. Therefore interesting and friendly people will be matched with similar people and trolls will be matched with other trolls.

With help from Anna Clark of UCL Business, a strong relationship between EDF Energy in the UK, EDF R&D across Europe, and the UCL Energy Institute has evolved. EDF is chairing the UCL Doctoral Training Centre Advisory Board, is co-funding with EPSRC the People, Energy and Buildings consortium, and is part of two consortia funded by the Energy Technology Institute on distributed energy in the built environment, and on the thermal efficiency of homes. The total project value is approximately £4m.

03/06/2011 Duração: 02minUCL's partnership with Arius 3D dates back to 2006, with the installation of a state-of-the-art 3D colour laser scanner at UCL and a shared-use agreement. The facility, unique in Europe, maintains its world-leading position through generous hardware and software upgrades from Arius 3D. To date it has generated over £2.5m in research funding proposals and partnerships with many cultural organisations including the British Museum, the Science Museum and English Heritage. In 2009 the agreement was renewed, leading to a new partnership with Irish company IET, to create 3D image libraries and virtual touring exhibitions based on the Petrie Museum collections.

03/06/2011 Duração: 03minFew have done as much as Dave Chapman to develop enterprise and entrepreneurship at UCL. He spun out his own company then worked in UCL Business supporting other academics to do likewise. He launched the MSc Technology Entrepreneurship, one of the first of its type, and continues to pioneer programmes bringing the likes of Arup, Orange and numerous small businesses into classes. As the interim director of CEMI he sowed the seeds that grew into both the department of Management Science and Innovation and UCL Advances. His students have gone on to form numerous businesses and it is sign of his effect on them that many have come back to help with teaching or engage with student projects.
